Working here, I have been more confident with my skills
Submitted by Lucia - Italy | July 13, 2017
I had my first experience studying abroad when I was 11 in Malta. My parents sent me there in order to help me become more confident with English and also to become more independent. I had also other experiences with studying abroad in the UL when I got older, but the one I’m currently doing is the one that I most enjoyed. It might be because now I’m more confident with English that I found my balance between having independence, working and studying. I always dreamed about studying abroad and build a new life only by myself. Study abroad changes you in every part of your life, you will be more confident with the other languages, the other countries, the other people and also with yourself. It is a really good way for you to find out what you want from your future!
In my opinion language learning and cultural immersion are necessary for everyone’s personal growing. Learning another language means changing totally your ordinary mind schemes and prepare your brain to be more active and flexible with everyday life.
A cultural immersion in a country that is not yours helps you to open your mind and to understand how people can be different and equal at the same time. I would personally suggest to everyone to take a flight and do an experience abroad!!
Student Works’ aim is to help students and professionals who are looking to come in the UK. We can help them with accommodation, English courses, work experiences, University courses…
When I first came here I had a lot of problems with finding a place to stay, a job and the worst thing was that I was completely alone in another country, without family and my friends. I love my current job because now I can help people who have got the same issue that I had. I always feel satisfied when someone who we helped comes to me saying that he never felt alone because of us and that he’s really happy because of our services. Our company give a service FREE of charge and we are proud to say that what makes us unique is our way of working closely with our customers. We support them with every issue that they might have in the UK. If you’re going to leave for a new country alone, you will feel better if you know that someone will; be there any time for help you, won’t you?!
From when I worked here I really feel changed in every way of my being. I’m feeling proud of my work for Student Works and I love hearing good feedback from my students. Working here, I have been more confident with my skills, I realized that I really have satisfaction from help people to reach their career aims.
Once you have the knowledge of your abilities and you’re happy with your job, you will be a better person with your colleagues, with your friends and with your customers!!

I studied abroad a couple of times before, one in Ireland and another in England. I was abroad because it is the optimal way to learn a language and allow me the chance to know another culture firsthand. It is also an opportunity to develop skills and get experience and make friends around the world while you are abroad. Moreover it give you a worldview and let you the chance to break with the academic routine and enhance the employment opportunities and no less enhance the value of your degree.
Everybody knows that English and Spanish are two of the most important languages in the world, English for his practicality on business considering that in any company when they need to contact with a foreign company they need to speak English. On the other hand the Spanish language is one of the most native speakers you can find in the world. Nowadays speak those languages is very helpful but in the future I think that English language will not have the same impact that these days owing to English language will be a language that everybody in everywhere will know from the child period in the school as their own language, consequently the English from my point of view will not be more a language with which one the people make the same profits than these days.
This experience is important because it is not the same as the common knowledge suggest that lifestyle and culture are different in other countries, unless you spend a few days in the place. Furthermore if you want to know exactly hot it is to speak this language everyday and interact with those people you have to be there and live this experience. If besides you have a work experience there is better due to you have to manage some situation that you are not going to have there if you are only studying. Apart from that I would like to work a few years in a foreign country and this experience is really helpful to me to know if I can handle me in a work environment and for the next future companies that I have been work in an english firm.
I always wanted to learn Russian or Chinese for a couple of reasons. First of all those language are spoken in two countries with a great development in the future as south American countries because is complicated for the rest of the world speak those language considering that they have a different alphabet and sounds. Secondly if you know one of those language you can be really important for the enterprise in the future and you will be essential for this firm and all of this will you open several markets that other people cannot reach.
I enjoyed all the days of my travel

I am from Barcelona, a city where the tourism is really important so when someone is looking for a job, most of the places ask you to have a good level of English. And the best way to improve your English is learning from English people. Also when you are on a different country than yours, it is important to deal with their culture and habits. Obviously the first days can be difficult but for a successful experience you should immerse on their culture. Here in England, there are some things that were difficult for me to do at the beginning like the dining time (in Spain we have dinner normally at 9:30pm). But after a few days I was used to do things similar as the English people and i think that’s an important aspect of the cultural immersion because it allows you to know more of what they do.
Some of my experiences abroad was when I went to study in Ireland when I was little and I stayed there for one month. It was my first experience abroad so I was scared the first’s days. After arrive to the country, see my host family. The school and all the people who were there, I had such a really good time there and I made lots of friends so it was a very positive experience. The second experience abroad was the last year when I went 7 weeks to study abroad and work to Torquay (Devon). Torquay is a peaceful place located on the south west of England. I was working on Brixham in the Golden Hind. It was everything perfect and I could improve a lot my English. I stayed also in a host family who were really nice and kind people and I also made friends which I still talking with them. The only thing which I didn’t like too much was the weather. Most of the days raining! But well, that’s England I guess. And the third one it was this year when I went to Bournemouth and I worked for Student Works. Without any doubt Bournemouth is the best place I’ve been studying abroad. It is full of people, we had a really good time and the host family and the work placement were fantastic! I enjoyed all the days of my travel.
I always wanted to visit New York. Since I was a kid, and every time that I saw New York on the films, the new or newspapers I imagined that one day I would be there. Finally, two years ago I went to New York with my family. For me, New York is a fantastic place where you can find everything that you want. We visit the entire city, the most important museums, restaurants and places. We also did a trip with helicopter around the city which was amazing. From there, you could see how big the Central park is, how big the most important buildings are and, of course, how big the city is.
By my point of view, every business that wants to succeed should have 3 basic factors: Sincerity, responsibility and desire to succeed. You cannot manage a business without those things. There are many businesses which are not sincere to their customer, and that could work at short term but definitely is not going to work at long term. I think that in Student Works everybody does those things and that is why it is a successful business. And the proof of that it is on our customers.

My position in Student Works was mainly within administration. My goal was to reply to messages in social networks and gave students who want to come to UK to study or work different offers.
In Germany I work as an insurance broker where I give customers also different opportunities and help them to find the best solution.
I didn’t study abroad before but it is a big dream of me to study in an english speaking country and the work experience here are student works helped me a lot to come this dream closer!
I definitely changed and grown since working for the company. Now I’m more self confident and have no worries to speak with people. I’m also motivated to improve my English more and more to have the chance to study or Australia, USA or UK.
My first days at Student Works I felt especially proud because I thought my understanding would be more bad. But it wasn’t. We always worked in a team to help each other so you can’t got wrong. I’m proud to work in such and great team.
I’m sure to visit this city a second time

It is my first time to study abroad here in Bournemouth, but I don’t think it was my last time. My first target was it, to improve my English mainly for school, but I never thought that it could be so a great experience. First of all Bournemouth is a really nice city full of young international students and lot of really nice places. At the beginning I was a little bit scared to live in a host family which I don’t know and never had seen before, without any friends and without the best English. Bit that was no problem after the first days I met a lot of friends from a lot of different countries and I began to enjoy my host family really. With the time I started to love the city and the people. Also the people which live with their whole life in Bournemouth were very friendly to all those foreigners and I’m sure to visit this city a second time.
I wanted to learn Spanish all the time. This language sounds very good if you can speak it well and fast and it is the second world language. Since to years I learn Spanish in school but it is very difficult, because when you learn a language not in a country where it is the main language you learn just a lot of grammar and you don’t learn to speak. I think that’s the problem for every language it is much easier to learn English in the UK for example. I think because of the mentality from the people from Spain and other southern countries where you speak Spanish, maybe it is just a stereotype or something like this, but when I imagine a spanish guy he is relaxed all the time and enjoys his life and I think because of this mentality I want to learn Spanish since years.
I always wanted to visit the Maldives in the Indian Ocean. I imagine that there are not so many people and everything is so peaceful. It is the perfect place to relax and forget everything around you. The beaches there with their palms are inimitable. You will never find nicer ones than ini this string of islands with the clear blue water and the fine sand.
