My Time with Stichting Timbo Afrika
May 21, 2025by: Jake MedichProgram: Botswana Working SafariHaving recently graduated from university in New York, I moved to Florida to pursue my Masters. Unfortunately, due to complications with my student visa, I was unable to begin my program and was forced to leave the country. This left me with a full semester between programs so, on the recommendation of a family friend, I made the impulsive decision to fly to Southern Africa to do a working safari with Stichting Timbo Afrika. Having now left the field after six weeks, I can't put into words what a rewarding experience it was to work in the beauty of Botswana's wilderness, wildlife, and local communities. During my time there, I formed many close bonds and developed the feeling that, even though I'd lost some time in working toward my own academic progression, ending up with Timbo in Botswana was entirely for the best.
