This course will be an unforgettable experience for those who are interested in working hands-on with wildlife. Learn about conservation issues and gain skills in developing practical solutions for these issues. At the same time, apply the basics of biology and ecology while immersed in the biodiverse rainforests of Costa Rica. This will be an enriching, action-oriented course for students who want to explore Costa Rica while working firsthand in the field of marine conservation, together with professional biologists and conservationists, and getting to know the wonderful wildlife of the ocean. Program Highlights
Work hands-on with various species of Costa Rica’s wildlife: squirrel monkeys, capuchin monkeys, sloths, coatis, kinkajous, parrots, toucans, parrots, macaws, curassows, and even sea turtles.
Work with professionals in the rehabilitation of rescued terrestrial and marine wildlife and become actively involved in the daily management of wildlife in a sanctuary and rescue center.
Learn how to provide the care needed in husbandry, nutrition, and behavioral needs based on the species-specific ecology and biology as well as treatment, rehabilitation, and welfare evaluation.
Experience amazing days alongside professional biologists working on diverse conservation projects: butterfly, turtle, reforestation, and macaw reproduction.
Visit a local sea turtle conservation project to learn about their efforts and how they protect and help these species as well as participate in hatchling releases (depending on the season).
