Sacha Yacu, which translates to “water from the jungle” in English, is a rescue and rehabilitation center for wildlife in Ecuador. Based in the rainforest, our operations and programs are supported by volunteers from across the globe. We collaborate with the Ministry of Environment and the Environmental Police (UPMA) to battle the abuse and trafficking of wild animals. Our center receives animals that have been taken out illegally from their natural habitat and then sold as domestic pets, but have been neglected by the owners.
Sacha Yacu Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center launches initiatives aimed at stopping further destruction of environmental resource. In turn, we are able to protect and preserve the Ecuadorian rainforest’s biodiversity. We strive to achieve this through the rescue and rehabilitation of wild animals as well as through awareness education on the significance of wildlife conservation. We lead rehabilitation programs and conduct scientific research to share our knowledge.
