Rancho Sol y Mar is an off-grid ranch that serves as an Education Center for Sustainable Living. The owners are Dan Gair and Holly Hunter, and they are dedicated to contributing positively to the Cabo Corrientes community while supporting environmental consciousness. The projects of Rancho Sol y Mar are 100 percent sustainable and are designed to put back more into the environment and society than what we take out.
Our center is in the stunning paradise of Mayto, one of the last unspoiled beaches on the Pacific coast of Mexico. We harness the sun’s power for various purposes, from generating electricity to cooking food. We use cob, compressed earth block, stone, adobe, and other natural, locally sourced materials for solar sheds and community buildings. We offer for profit (e.g. eco stay in our guesthouse and thermal design consulting) and nonprofit activities (e.g. community classes, educational workshops, and creating a permaculture food forest).
