Intern as a nurse in Kenya and help people in under-resourced medical institutions as you gain international work experience. Your exact role within the hospital will depend on your interests and skills, so you can focus on the areas you are most passionate about. The foundation of a Nursing project is observing and shadowing local nurses, sitting in on consults, going on rounds, and observing different procedures. Interns are paired up with a local nurse who is their supervisor. There is also a medical outreach component in which a few volunteers go out to a school, orphanage, or care center to do medical check-ups, treat minor wounds and injuries, and lead public health campaigns focusing on personal hygiene.
Program Highlights
We hold regular workshops for all our Medical and Healthcare interns. These are usually run by our qualified medical coordinator in Nanyuki.
These workshops give you the opportunity to ask about specific things you have seen during your internship.
The workshops will let you learn different techniques and skills which you can then put into practice when you go to work at your internship.
