Phase 1_Madrid_COURSES / WORKSHOPS
October 2017 / January 2018
Madrid courses and workshops will focus on the design OF public spaces - the CONTAINER of public life in contemporary cities. The design of public living spaces is a complex activity that involves the interaction of theory, research, design and practice. Classes and workshops will address the taxonomy of public space, exploring topics of creation, transformation, preservation, implementation and management through historical and contemporary case studies.
Teaching modules:

Conceptualization and Design of Public Spaces;
Fundamentals of Public Spaces;
Infrastructures, Materials and Technologies in Public Spaces;
Procedures for Public Spaces;
Advanced Tools and Team Management.
Phase 2_Milan_COURSES / WORKSHOPS
February 2018 / May 2018
Milan courses and workshops will focus on the design IN public spaces - the CONTENT of public space in contemporary cities. Classes and workshops will address the short and medium term, the Temporary City, exploring topics of diversity, reuse, reversibility, event, hospitality and entertainment. The issues addressed in Madrid will be developed and confronted with the temporary nature that characterises current and future uses of contemporary public living spaces.

Phase 3_MILAN / MADRID / OTHER CITIES _JOINT WORKSHOP
June 2018
An intensive one-week workshop will bring together students and faculty from Madrid, Milan and a third party. Location and topics to be announced.

Phase 4_ MILAN / MADRID / OTHER CITIES_INTERNSHIP AND FINAL MASTER PROJECT
Upon successful completion of courses and workshops
The Internship brings students into direct contact with the professional world. It will take place at firms and institutions of the public and private sectors for 330 hours.
The Final Master Project calls for the revision of the work done during the Internship and its return through an in-depth theoretical and planning analysis. There will be two tutors: one MUID instructor and one professional supervisor.
