Panthera Sanctuary

In 2010, a parcel of rainforest along the Madre de DIos River was acquired by an environmentalist couple looking to protect and preserve the forest area that was being miss-threatened by human activity such as gold mining, tree logging, cattle ranching, agriculture, and poaching. The land was given the name Panthera Sanctuary after discovering the footprints of a Jaguar (Panthera onça). In 2013, the Panthera Sanctuary was officially established as a conservation reserve and began receiving both volunteers and interns. Our mission is to preserve the pristine Amazon Rainforest of Peru by promoting environmental awareness and sustainable living practices.
