Ecuador: San Cristobal

Program Summary

For those interested in studying biodiversity and conservation then there couldn’t be a better place to learn than on the most unique and fascinating islands in the world. The islands are considered to be very special and because of this, the human footprint must be kept to a minimum. Recent challenges have been the whaling industry, too many samples being collected and foreign flora and fauna, all of which have had detrimental effects. This beautiful part of the world now has an alarming 60% of native plants severely under threat.

Fortunately, the Ecuadorian government has declared 97% of the Galapagos to now be National Park and efforts to help protect this land are now underway. Volunteers are invited to join forces with inspiring local people who are working hard to preserve their paradise for the future.

Whilst on this beautiful volcanic island, you will be spotting a vast number of animal and bird species including marine iguanas, lava lizards and sea lions. Conservation efforts include ...
