The Voluntourism Project at Ongula Village Homestead Lodge is fundamental to our program. It allows volunteers to participate in the community of a local area, working closely with Namibian peers. It is an experience that enables them to discover firsthand Namibian culture while making their own contribution to the host community.
As part of Ongula social responsibility, we support communities as well as provide necessary foundation to future leaders. We promote a community kindergarten, an initiative of the Queen of Oukwanyama Traditional Authority. We also work with children from different schools within the village. The Ongula Voluntourism Project focuses on Community Service (Education and Donations), Art and Design (such as pottery making and basket weaving), and Youth and Women Empowerment (including cancer awareness, HIV/AIDS, and gender issues awareness).
