Oye LENA, founded in 2012, is a registered non-governmental organization based in Curahuasi. Oye LENA is short for “Oye Loquitas EN Acción!”, which freely translated means: “Listen up, we are taking action!”
Oye LENA is focused in helping children achieve quality education by fighting poverty and social inequality. We believe that every child has a right to enjoy quality education and personality development regardless of their own capabilities and limitations. Our projects are inclined in supporting children from underprivileged families and minorities, children with disabilities, and children in rural areas not being able to enjoy similar opportunities as others.
Oye LENA offers three educational projects:
– Oye NENE, afterschool nursery education,
– Oye INTI WARMA, education for children with a disability,
– Oye YACHAQ, a partnership with the local population to work towards better education.
