Fundación Neotrópica is a private Costa Rican nonprofit organization established in 1985 by natives concerned about the country’s environmental situation. They also aim to expand the vision and analysis developed by other environmental organizations. Hence, Fundación Neotrópica was started to offer solutions to problems hindering the sustainability in Costa Rica’s buffer zones. Since our inception, we have enforced two strategies: 1) Research and Awareness and 2) Field Projects to help local communities reach their sustainable development goals.
Our work at Fundación Neotrópica is categorized into three programs: Global Environmental Citizenship; Local Empowerment and Socioenviromental Management; and Sustainable Productive Solutions. We also function according to numerous thematic focus, which include Environmental Education, Community Wetland Conservation, Ecological Footprint, Tree Nursery and Reforestation, Rural Microenterprise, and Municipal Strengthening. We have implemented projects in numerous locations across Costa Rica, including in the “Zonas Protectoras”.
