The Mmanze Centre for Rural Development & Training (MACERUDET) is a community-based, non-governmental organization in Uganda working with rural communities. Our work mostly involves developing and managing self-help projects in fields related to welfare work. Our center’s name is derived from the Mmanze community in the Masulita sub-county. Our NGO was established in 1987, after the 1981-1986 bush war that led to the loss of lives and damage of infrastructures. This urged some survivors to set up self-help initiatives aimed at rehabilitating, reconstructing, and re-developing the area. Based only on a mobilized community, MACERUDET has no paid staff. We implement programs using the services of local and international volunteers who help in areas like health care, sustainable agriculture, environmental protection, youth, capacity building, child and women rights, education and vocational training, and many more.
