Messors is an educational organization started to foster cultural heritage through hands-on, immersive programs that positively impact participants and the entire Puglia region. While Messors is fairly new, our history traces back to 1989 when Sinergie was created by a group of professionals with various specialties in the conservation of regional cultural and artistic heritage. They established in 2010 an 18th century hunting lodge, Masseria La Selva, as the venue for workshops under the new name, Messors.
The program founder and director of Messors is Tonio Creanza, a native of Puglia with more than 25 years of experience in archeology and art restoration. The name is derived from ancient Roman religion, wherein Messor is one of the agricultural gods helping Ceres - the goddess of agriculture and grain crops. Hence, participants of Messors workshops and retreats reap knowledge while interacting with community members in Masseria La Selva and with local professionals. They learn about and practice art restoration, shepherding, and culinary, as well as take part in art residencies.
