Program Summary

Apply your educational background and skills in landscape design, architecture, or interior design through an internship in Western Cape. Magister will place you in a small practice specializing in custom residential design projects - both new buildings and alterations. The office was established in 2005 by Paul, an avid surfer and windsurfer, and Katrin. Most of their work is in the South Peninsula, as their studio is located within the Scarborough Conservation Village, bordering the Cape Point Nature Reserve.

As an intern, you will assist with all projects the company are busy with. These generally include carpentry, furniture, masonry, and new home design. Throughout the program, you will focus and gain exposure on custom residential design. You will learn about design principles, applying these in context with climate changes and terrain. You will also consider responsible use of materials and resources - that is, mindful of site disturbance, cost, and energy use.
