Good experience overall

I arrived in Dakar on March 3rd 2015 and stayed for 10 weeks. I was hosted in a family that instantly made me feel at home. At the hospital, I needed some time to adapt and felt a little bit overwhelmed the first few days. I was assigned to the band-aids room, which has several functions: the nurses do injections, stitches, clean wounds and change band-aids. I was confronted to many different situations on a daily and learned a lot. My main tasks consisted of cleaning wounds and changing band-aids, registering patients and sometime helping them when needed directions within the hospital. The first few days were difficult, but the nurses were very helpful and I felt that that there was a good balance between learning by myself and getting assistance when necessary
