Daycare for Street Children in a Small Slum Near Mombasa

Kumbatia is a free, nonprofit daycare in the Mshomoroni slum. We are located just north of Mombasa, on the beautiful coast of Kenya. Our goal is to take in children who would otherwise be on the streets and provide them with food, education, and love. In doing this, we empower local women by enabling them to work without the fear that their children are gone when they return home. As a volunteer, you can choose to work in the daycare or at local schools. Tasks at the daycare include helping care for the children by playing, doing crafts, dancing, reading, and teaching them basic English.
