The International Max Planck Research School of Marine Microbiology (MarMic) is a Master of Science and a Doctor of Philosophy graduate program. It is aimed at highly qualified students in Germany and other countries. It is a joint program of the Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology (MPI-MM), the Jacobs University Bremen (JUB), the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research (AWI), and the University of Bremen (UniB).
MarMic offers training in bioinformatics, molecular biology, evolution, ecology, physiology, and other related subjects. It also teaches students to follow an interdisciplinary approach when understanding eukaryotic microbiology and marine prokaryotic. This is an ideal program for students holding a Bachelor of Science (or equivalent) degree in microbiology, biochemistry, oceanography, molecular biology, and another related field. The concept of MarMic is to produce a new generation of marine scientists by equipping them with tools to better comprehend microbial life and its effect on the biosphere.
