Surpassed expectations - highly recommended
by: Bertrand Delain - FranceProgram: Learn Italian in Tuscany @ Il Sasso Language InstituteMy plan being to go to Italy and attend intensive classes for a 3-month period, I absolutely wanted to find the optimal location/school option. After couple of weeks of due diligence, the destination was found, Montepulciano in Tuscany, and a school was selected, Il Sasso. I arrived in September 2018 speaking only a few words of Italian and left at the end of November discussing Italian politics and history with Alberto (one of the many great teachers at the school). This was possible thanks to the high quality of the material provided and the extremely interactive and practical structure of the lessons (small number of students per class, emphasis on verbal communication and interaction). However, the strongest catalyst for my learning and improvement process has been the people of Il Sasso. Not only do they brilliantly succeed in teaching you Italian through their passion for their language, their culture, their region and the Italian history, but they also look to understand your own expectations and interests in order to provide you with a unique, tailored-made experience. Whether it is helping you design your afternoon plans, recommending a good Italian book, having a quick chat to practice your Italian, sharing a secret food recipe or even booking a doctor's appointment, the whole staff of Il Sasso is always incredibly available. I decided to learn Italian in Italy as I wanted to get a full exposure and understanding of the Italian language, through what constitutes the Italian culture overall. Il Sasso and Montepulciano surpassed every expectation.
This can not be forgotten
by: Kacper (Gaspare) Grys - PolandProgram: Learn Italian in Tuscany @ Il Sasso Language InstituteThe language school for foreigners Il Sasso in Montepulciano is a very good school. The atmosphere alone just makes you want to be there and learn. In this school you can learn the language from different sides. It would not be good if it was only about learning grammar and learning words by heart. Fortunately, it is not like that. Choosing to learn Italian at the Il Sasso school in Montepulciano is a great choice.First of all because it is definitely not a lost time and even if you choose a short course you will always come out with concrete knowledge. Of the teachers, the number one is definitely profesoressa Cinzia Casagni! An additional advantage is the city. Montepulciano impresses and is breathtaking.I studied at this school for three months, I'm very glad and I can honestly recommend this school to all.
The best time of my life! unforgettable experiences!
by: Malinda - United StatesProgram: Learn Italian in Tuscany @ Il Sasso Language InstituteReview for Il Sasso I can not recommend Il Sasso enough. It was the stuff dreams and memories are made of. I say that because, I dreamed of doing such a thing and acted upon the desire, then so many memories were made.....which are now part of my soul. All of that, may seem overly dramatic, however, I am a married 52 year old female with a full life at home. It was exciting to take time off for myself and do what I wanted. I was 4 weeks at school and an additional 2 weeks traveling. There are different levels, you are given a quick assessment and them placed in a class. There were different students coming and going each week. They came for 1 week, 2 weeks, 4-6 weeks and even for 3 months. The staff at Il Sasso are kind, patient, encouraging, warm, and helpful. They want you to succeed at learning....and get as happy and excited (as you do yourself)....when a ‘breakthrough’ is made. We would have a grammar class and a conversation class. There was a little bit of homework (which I didn’t always manage to complete before class). I also signed up for the private lessons, which could be done solo or with a second person. The private(solo) lessons helped me get over the hump/blockade that I had in learning Italian. I really was able to progress as the teacher assessed where I was having the trouble and then really worked on that (what a kind and Patient man Alberto was with me)!!! There are after school activities as also excursions offered to reinforce your learning. You are able to do as much or as little of the extracurricular activities as you would like. I had as much fun after school, as I did in school. If you come on your own and have concern about being lonely or unsafe—in my opinion....there is not a problem with either here. So much to do, so much to see! I walked in the city at night (sometimes late) by myself with no bother at all. The picturesque town, the surrounding area, the history. I will never get enough. I plan on returning as soon as I possibly can. I am willing to provide additional information if anyone has additional questions.

After working in Florence as a language instructor, an editor, and an author, I was so lucky to be asked to become a partner of Il Sasso Institute School of Italian in the charming small town of Montepulciano. Here I had the chance to add to my editing and writing experience, and the opportunity to work with foreign languages while interacting with people from all over the world.
