Highland Volunteer for Community Center is a project started by Nong Thi Nga, a teacher from an ethnic minority in the rural mountains of Ha Giang, a province in the northern part of Vietnam. She established the center in response to the educational needs of children from impoverished families and vulnerable backgrounds. Through Highland English School, we provide informal yet quality English courses and creative arts.
Our goal is to expose underprivileged kids to the English language, as well as Western culture, to boost their capabilities and self-confidence. In turn, we are able to make a lasting difference in their lives. Our center continuously grows with the support of organizations and individuals in Vietnam and in different parts of the globe. We partner with schools and community organizations in Ha Giang, providing their children free education with the assistance of local and international volunteers. We also offer help in a home for children with special needs as well as in geo-farm communities.
