We are a UK based charity operating in The Gambia - that is dedicated to the relief of poverty. We are offering opportunities to volunteers to make a real difference in a developing country that has just entering a new phase of democracy. We have Memorandum of Understanding with the Gambian Health and the Education Authorities to ensure our volunteers are working in a way to bring development that is sustainable. Opportunities are offered 52 weeks of the year and facilitated by UK professionals. We have many initiatives ongoing including women's literacy - giving women the opportunity to read and write. We are also deeply involved with protecting the environment by training local youngsters to become tomorrows eco warriors. We have good links with Gambia College where teachers and nurses are trained and many of our volunteers have delivered lectures on a number of subjects including disability, women's health, child care, teaching skills. We are currently building a community kitchen that will enable the community to make the most of the food resources available - ensuring food security.
