Typical Volunteer

Volunteers at our Peru projects come from many different backgrounds and countries and range in age from 18 to 70. The broad range of backgrounds makes volunteering on this project a great way to meet different people and means our team usually benefits from a diverse range of skills too. If you choose the hotel option for your accommodation you will be staying with volunteers on our Peru Community projects. Despite their diverse backgrounds most volunteers are united by a common interest in other cultures and and a desire to help those less fortunate than themselves. You will get to meet like-minded people who are adventurous, open-minded and with a willingness to make a difference. The majority of our volunteers in Peru come from the United States, the UK, Australia, Canada and Ireland. Most applications we receive are from the USA and the UK due to the excellent transport links between North America, Europe and Peru with direct flights to Lima from many US cities and from the UK via Madrid or the US. Cusco is just a short flight from Lima. Most volunteers travel independently to the projects, although we also accommodate couples and groups. Our Peru projects tend to be busier in the tourist season between May and October so we advise applying early if you wish to volunteer at this time.
