Founded in 2015, Gap at Glen Brook is a place-based program for gap students ages 18 to 20 on a 240-acre campus in the Monadnock region of New Hampshire. Glen Brook is a year-round educational facility home to educators and lifelong learners committed to the joys of simple living.
The central focus of the program is personal development within a learning community through independent living, practical skills, and by fostering a deeper relationship with nature. We examine closely the notions of stewardship, responsibility and caring for community, both locally and globally, human and ecological. Finding roots and rhythms at Glen Brook, “gappers” learn to cook whole foods meals from scratch, work with their hands farming and woodworking, and participate in a wide variety of workshops from wildlife tracking to financial literacy, geared towards the discovery of an independent and interdependent self.
