The English School Community of Luanda, Angola or E.S.C.O.L.A. is an independent, interdenominational school that accepts students from different cultures and nationalities. We celebrate this diversity by holding an annual International Day. We opened our doors in the 2003-2004 academic year, with 27 enrolled students. Since then, this population has increased and we now have 170 students. E.S.C.O.L.A. offers Pre-primary 3 until Grade 9 education based on a holistic approach that fosters the development of mind, spirit, and body.
While our curriculum is centered on Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS), it adapts to international trends such as the introduction of Singapore Mathematics in the academic year 2012-2013. Apart from academic growth, we strive to cultivate in our students empathy. Hence, we provide them opportunities to help the less fortunate through our annual World Stand Up Against Poverty Day celebration as well as community school projects.
