Program Summary

In partnership with the University of Oxford, Duke University offers the Duke in Oxford summer program. This gives you the chance to study British history and culture at the oldest and widely respected university in England. It is organized by the Department of Continuing Education in Oxford, together with the Global Education Office for Undergraduates (GEO-U) of Duke University.

Its fundamental aspect is the tutorial method, an interactive teaching style central to Oxford education. You will take a double-credit tutorial in philosophy, political science, literature, or history; under the mentoring of an experienced Oxford professor (tutor). There will be weekly tutorial sessions, together with another student, on presenting and critiquing essays. There will also be regular seminar meetings and guest lectures, as well as extracurricular activities and events - such as an evening at the National Theatre.
