Los días mas felices de mi vida

March 14, 2024by: Jose ConchaProgram: Medical Volunteer Program in Uganda

Volunteering and Hospital-Internship in Uganda

January 29, 2024by: Irene V.Program: Medical Volunteer Program in Uganda

If the idea of volunteering has crossed your mind at some point, whether in your own country or abroad, my advice would be “don’t hesitate, and do it”. In January 2023 I made the decision to listen to that inner voice and go volunteer that June in Uganda for a month. I didn’t have many expectations about what could I find there, whether it would be long or short time, what my daily routine would be, or with whom I would share the experience… With an open mind and heart, willing to listen to my surroundings and listen to myself, I knew after a week in destination, that I wanted to stay all the summer time. So what was planned for one month ended up lasting two and a half months. However, not everything stopped there. In January 2024 I came back to Uganda to do my final year internship at the hospital for four months, also with Cooperating Volunteers, and by the time I finished my stay at the hospital, they have given me the opportunity to be a volunteer coordinator for this summer 2024. Every word fails short to express the gratitude and happiness I feel in this place and towards the Cooperating team and management. Even today I look back, grateful for making the decision of travelling to Uganda and for all the people who have accompanied me along the way. Thank you Uganda for bringing me closer to myself, and for changing the way I see the world. And to you, who is reading this, I would say yo encourage yourself without hesitation, to listen to yourself and leave aside those doubts that put yourself far from taking the step. THANK YOU <3
