Established in 1990, Benposta Venezuela is part of Benposta - a nonprofit organization based in Spain and started in 1956 by Jesús César Silva Méndez. We focus on helping disadvantaged children experience a family-like environment where they receive education in various aspects: academic, artistic, social, etc. The idea is to create a model society independent of nationality, social status, gender, race, and religion. Our mission is to defend and promote children’s rights in accordance with the UN’s Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Our facilities in Benposta Venezuela welcome children ages 4-17, giving them the chance to experience equality and go to school. Many of these kids and youth have gone through physical or psychological violence or have lived on the streets. We are joined by volunteers from across the work, contributing to our projects in Los Frailes, Zulia State (for indigenous children); Zapara Island (workshop and dining room); and Macuto, La Guaira State (youth empowerment through training and education). Through these initiatives, we hope to improve their future.
