Augustana College is an institution of higher education specializing in liberal arts and sciences. Established in 1860 by Swedish settlers, we have a residential campus situated on a 115-acre woods in Rock Island, on the Mississippi River. First and second-year students live in residence halls, while juniors may opt for apartment-style housing on campus. On the other hand, seniors choose to live on or off campus.
With a foundation in the liberal arts and sciences, as well as Lutheran faith, Augustana provides a challenging education that fosters mental, physical, and spiritual development. We offer majors, minors, and certificate programs in a broad range of topics - including Accounting, Biochemistry, Foreign Languages, Mathematics, History, Psychology, and Theater Arts, among others. Students follow a unique study course, wherein a four-year degree starts with First-Year Inquiry (FYI) and ends with Senior Inquiry. Their learning involves various experiences inside and outside the classroom and range from research to study abroad programs.
