Volunteers play a crucial role in running a small rescue and rehabilitation center for endangered sea turtles, particularly green and olive ridley turtles. The green turtles have often been kept illegally as pets, while the olive ridleys are frequently caught in discarded fishing gear. These turtles are taken care of by resident marine biologists until they are ready to be released back into their natural habitat. The center also focuses on coral restoration as a key part of its work. As a volunteer, you will help rehabilitate the resident turtles at the Atoll Marine Centre in the Maldives and contribute to various ongoing projects, such as coral restoration and community outreach.
