Established as the American Scandinavian Student Exchange in 1976 by the Swedish Government, ASSE initially offered student exchange programs to participants in Sweden and the US. After some time, young people from Finland, Norway, and Denmark took part in these international exchanges. Today, we work closely with provincial ministries of education in Canada. We run 38 offices in 31 countries, accommodating over 30,000 high school students received by local families in their host country. The mission of ASSE is to promote international understanding among students from around the globe by organizing educational and cross-cultural programs.
