The Ant Collection aims to create sustainable tourism by conserving the environment, enriching the lives of its guests and its staff at Ant's Nest and Ant's Hill, uplifting the community, and providing as much skills development to those living near its site in South Africa.
We strive to always do what we can to support the community. We have several community development projects. We sponsor underprivileged children through their education. In conjunction with guests, we help fund the education of a number of children. We do this through the Waterberg Academy, which offers a safe and structured environment in which children can learn and grow in self-confidence and knowledge. We complement this effort by providing quality boarding facilities for grades four to 12.
We work in partnership with the Waterberg Biosphere Reserve, which takes unemployed youths from surrounding areas and provides them with skills training to get back into employment. We support four training projects: wildlife security, chef training, housekeeping, and nature guiding. We provide placements for all of those who train in these projects. Majority of our staff are employed from the local community.
