Situated in the heart of Florence on the corner of Via Tonabuoni, one of the city's most beautiful and famous streets, the ISTITUTO EUROPEO has for years specialized in teaching Italian language, music and culture to students from all over the world. The Institute's philosophy is to make learning enjoyable and to delve into the study of the language and culture in a multi-cultural environment that is both friendly and dynamic. Our courses are widely accepted by most US colleges and universities, allowing students enrolled in US institutions to study abroad in Florence, while still earning credit toward their undergraduate degrees at their home institutions. The curriculum of the courses at ISTITUTO EUROPEO is based on US university standards, regarding credits and contact hours, mid-term and final exams, course syllabi, grading system, etc. All summer courses are taught in English, with the exception of the Italian language classes, and some upper division literature courses (where “in Italian” is specified). History and Art history courses are supplemented with several on-site lectures in Florence’s major churches, museums, and monuments.
