What motivated you to embark on an international program?

I wanted to get international work experience through an internship and also travel to other parts of the world while incorporating it into my college education.

Why did you choose you CAPA specifically?

I chose CAPA because I had heard good things about the program, and the internship component was definitely the main deciding factor.

What makes CAPA London a unique program?

I love CAPA because they offer several opportunities throughout your time there by having extracurricular events called MyEducation. Through the MyEducation events, I got to see the city with other CAPA students with free tickets and tours to busy and interesting places around the city. Some of these included a tour of the Olympic Park, a rugby game, a musical, and a tour of St. Paul’s cathedral.

What is one thing about your program that future participants should know?

CAPA has a very supportive team in every city they are located in. If you are nervous to go (like I was), your fears will dissolve as soon as you get there by knowing that if you ever have any questions or concerns, there will be someone there to help you.

What was your personal favorite part about the program?

I loved my internship. I got work experience and made friends with locals who were able to give me tips about things to do and places to see.

Looking back, is there anything you would have done differently?

I would have wanted to research more free things to do around the city on my own time. London is expensive!

Describe a typical week in your program.

I usually had class twice a week for three hours, and my internship was 15 to 20 hours a week. I would always be able to have time for dinner with my friends and have Friday-Sunday free to myself to travel or explore London.

Did you experience any culture shock living in London?

I was very homesick at first, but once I realized what a great city London was, I learned to embrace my fears as new learning experiences.

What final impression has studying/interning abroad in London left you with?

I have a serious travel bug. I wish I could have stayed in Europe and kept exploring! It is impossible to see everything.

I have always wanted to study abroad, especially after my older sister studied and interned abroad in Brussels, Belgium. I am also a German major in addition to my journalism major, so I wanted to be in Europe to get a sense of what it would be like to live there. I loved every minute of it and c...
