See All 2 ProgramsA Guide to Ski Resort Internships Abroad
Career Impact
Did you know that work doesn’t exactly feel like work when you’re doing what you love, and enjoying a mountain covered in fresh pow? If you prefer big comfy sweaters to flip flops, like frolicking in the snow more than the waves, and can’t help but breathe in fresh mountain air at every chance you get, then ski resort internships abroad will fit you like a winter glove.
Even though there are many different types of ski resort internships, with some focused on hospitality and others on instructing, each will provide you with greater benefits and experiences than if you were to intern domestically. Despite that you’ll be interning at a ski resort in just one specific country, you will likely encounter ski and snowboard lovers from all over the globe. This will give you the advantage of working with many different cultures and individuals, providing you with a more international perspective and a more well rounded cultural experience that would not be possible at home.
The field of hospitality, in general, is a competitive field, and employers tend to favor those with experience abroad. Why? Because most of the people that occupy resorts are foreign and from all over the world. Ski resort internships abroad will help you gain skills in communication, guest services, management, and even tolerance to extremely cold weather (so much so that Jack Frost would be proud).
Locations
Ski resort internships abroad tend to be located in countries with, you guessed it, the most popular ski resorts in the world and the most famous mountains, such as the Swiss Alps, Mount Robson, and Mount Hua. Grasp any opportunity to intern abroad at ski resorts near one of the latter mountains, or you could even try to experience all three!
If you’re one of those people that learned how to ski and snowboard before you learned how to walk, then becoming a qualified ski or snowboard instructor in Switzerland might be your forte. Home to over 200 mountains and delicious creamy and rich chocolate, Switzerland is a true winter wonderland. Home to outdoor adventure, there are plenty of chances to hike, venture, or hermit away from civilization during cross country ski trip.
Managing a ski resort in itself is a really cool concept, but managing a ski resort in Canada equals major bragging rights. Plant yourself right in the middle of Vancouver to not only grow in the field of hospitality management, but to also enjoy the high quality of life in the third best and cleanest city in the world. There are three ski hills all within short driving distance of Vancouver: Grouse Mountain, Cypress Mountain, and Mount Seymour. So, grab your winter gear, extra marshmallows, and hail a ride, because mountain hopping will be the thing to do on a chilly winter day.
During ski resort internships in China, you’ll be able to enjoy a cup of hot green tea while overlooking the rad snow-capped mountains of Mount Tai, Emei, and Hua. After a long day of hittin’ the slopes, and when all you want to do is strip off the ten extra pounds of puffy snow clothes you’ve been wearing, you can enjoy a dip in the hot springs to relax your muscles and soul. And don’t forget to feed your growling stomach, because by the time you’re done shredding the gnar, it’ll be begging you to feed it some traditional Chinese food, like dumplings, fried Mahi, and stinky tofu.
Options
Improve your skiing and snowboarding skills and reach Olympic level (or at least try), and receive free lift tickets along the way. Becoming a qualified ski and snowboard instructor will open the door to many ski resort internships and job opportunities, not only at the resort you intern in, but in ski resorts all over the globe. Most ski resort internships abroad entail all-inclusive training packages, including exam fees, training costs, lift passes, accommodation, and a job offer; basically a starter pack to a life full of doing what you love, and a lot of snow! The best part is, even if you weren’t born with skis on your feet, some ski resort internships do not require any qualifications and will provide you with the full training you need in order to become a certified instructor.
The hospitality industry delivers a wide range of internships at ski resorts abroad, especially during peak summer and winter seasons. Ski resort internships abroad will expose you to different realms such as guest services, management, event planning, cooking, and instructing. Working in the kitchen or in guest services is a great way to dip your feet into the field of hospitality, without having to take the full plunge. If you have a passion for food and cooking, or if you’re just looking for an excuse to hit the mountains in your off-hours, working in kitchens at ski resorts will enhance your cooking skills, test your ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and you’ll still be getting the hook-ups for a day out on the lifts. Ski resort internships abroad focused on guest services will ultimately improve your people and communication skills and expose you to cultures from all around the world, neither of which can hurt a career in almost any field; these are skills and experiences that employers highly value, because they foster an open mind, greater problem solving skills, and intercultural understanding. As a guest service member, you will also have the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of running a resort business, which can be a great intro to resort management.
Benefits
Living next to massive, towering, snow covered mountains, exploring cute and quaint mountain towns, and hiking and adventuring during your free time sounds like the perfect winter getaway. However, you are bound to face irritated guests or other challenges during a ski resort internship abroad. In these situations, you’ll have to remember to be patient, bring out your best problem solving skills, smile brightly, and fake it ‘til you make it. Even though it may seem as if the guest is at fault, the golden rule in hospitality is: the guest is always right. Now, repeat that 10 times in your head, practice writing it down, tattoo it onto your arm, and you’ll do just fine.
Despite the fact that you’ll be working under the title of “intern” rather than employee (although some are one in the same), most ski resort internships are paid and come with accommodation. These are two huge, very uncommon, benefits, especially when you are doing what you love and making some extra spending cash or traveling along the way too.
Take advantage of any opportunity to intern abroad at ski resorts and showcase your best talents and skills, because your supervisors, also known as your golden ticket to a future job cough cough, will definitely be watching and noticing your hard work. Take your international internship experience to the next level, grasp skills that will set you apart from your competitors, and intern abroad at some of the most incredible ski resorts in the world.
Why waste yet another few months on Netflix and chill when you could be interacting with different cultures, whizzing up and down foreign alps, and getting paid for all of the above? Take a risk, hop on, and hang tight as the ski lift will not only take you up the mountain, but will take you to new heights in your career.

My time in Taiwan with Asia Internship Program!
August 07, 2026by: Mal Carter - United StatesMy experience with Asia Internship Program was amazing from start to finish. I had very specific requirements for my internship, including finding an unpaid position that was longer than 8 weeks and focused on nonprofit or legal work rather than English teaching. While the placement process took some time, Jeff Oo was incredibly professional and reassuring throughout the process. He was honest about updates, never gave false hope, and made sure he was finding opportunities that were truly the right fit for me rather than rushing the process. Once I arrived in Taiwan, Nisha Shahi and Roro Lee were also incredibly supportive. Nisha helped arrange my transportation to and from the airport, answered my questions quickly when I was settling into my accommodation, and regularly checked in to make sure I was doing well. Their support made moving to a new country feel much less overwhelming. The internship itself exceeded my expectations, and I felt welcomed and comfortable as a queer Black student. I’m incredibly grateful for the care, professionalism, and effort the AIP team put into making this experience successful. I would highly recommend Asia Internship Program to any student looking for an international internship experience!

I’m so sad to go but I had a blast !!
August 07, 2026by: Arianna Barney - United StatesI honestly had a pretty solid time. It’s always been a dream of mine to do something this crazy like living and working abroad. My company was super nice and my work hours were super nice too. Most everyone was flexible with my needs and assisting me when needed. I was a research invest analyst so, they have work/positions for every major. So if an Interview doesn’t go as planned there will be more opportunities. The only downside was that I would finish my work sometimes too quickly and would not have anything to do but that’s not the case for most interns. Other interns that were here often had to work weekends. My company was super laid back and often treated me and my colleagues to lunch and dinner. As long as you make the effort to communicate with them even if you don’t speak Korean fluently they will see the effort and do the same for you.
Great experience!
August 05, 2026by: Phea Leyshon - United KingdomI spent 8 weeks in Seoul with Beyond Academy and overall had a really positive experience. The programme was a great opportunity to gain professional experience in Korea while also developing my confidence working in an international environment. The company organised a range of activities and events for interns, which made it easy to meet other people on the programme and experience different parts of Seoul together. Both the Beyond Academy staff and other interns were very friendly and supportive. The internship also gave me useful professional experience and helped me better understand working culture in Korea, as well as giving me something valuable to take forward in my future career. Although I had to leave my internship partway through due to personal circumstances, I chose to remain in Korea and Beyond Academy were very understanding and supportive of my situation, which I really appreciated. One thing I would recommend to future interns is to keep in mind that internship placements can be a bit hit or miss depending on the company and role. If possible, I would recommend doing a few interviews and considering different offers rather than accepting the first placement you are offered. Overall, though, Beyond Academy provided a friendly and well-supported way to experience working and living in Seoul.
What a Time in Seoul!
August 05, 2026by: Tahj Cain-Jones - United StatesMy time in Seoul was extremely memorable, from the people I met, to the adventures I had, it was quite literally the most exciting time of my life. The program had a lot of weekend trips, and opportunities to interact with the other interns, and chances to explore, so I really appreciated being able to see South Korea the way I was able to. From initially not knowing anyone in the program, to being able to recognize everyone by name, my time in Korea was not wasted !
Had the best time in Valencia!
August 03, 2026by: Carson Koenning - United StatesI had a great experience with AIP Study Abroad Internships, especially because of how kind and helpful the staff was throughout the entire process. From the beginning, everyone I interacted with was incredibly friendly, responsive, and genuinely wanted to make sure I had a good experience abroad. Whenever I had a question or needed help with something, the AIP team was always easy to reach and willing to help. Moving abroad and starting an internship in another country can definitely be stressful at times, but having such a supportive staff made the whole experience much easier. They were welcoming, patient, and always made me feel like I had someone I could reach out to if I needed anything. Overall, I’m very grateful for everyone at AIP who helped me along the way and made my time abroad such a positive experience. I would definitely recommend AIP to anyone considering an internship abroad!

Abroad with Beyond in Seoul
July 28, 2026by: Muriel Lüdtke - GermanyI had an overall great experience with Beyond Academy in Seoul. The staff always offered amazing support regarding questions and was super friendly. You could always join activities with others and built friendships. The internship I did was also very trustworthy and I barley had any major problems, especially with regular check-in’s. I spent 5 months abroad and I felt very safe. A lot of information was always offered, as well as good preparation before coming and joining. I had the best time abroad!
Thank you so much for sharing your experience, Muriel! We’re so happy to hear that you had such a great time in Seoul and felt supported throughout your five months abroad. It’s amazing to hear that you felt safe, built meaningful friendships, and had such a positive experience with your internship! Thank you again for trusting Beyond Academy with such a big adventure. Amazing Summer in Valencia, Spain!
July 28, 2026by: Caleb Biondo - United StatesThanks to AIP, I had the opportunity to participate in an amazing internship in Valencia, Spain. July 24, 2026by: Claudio De La Garza - United StatesDeciding to do an internship through AIP was easily one of the best moves I’ve made. The team made the whole process super simple and stepped in to guide me every step of the way. AIP matched me with a role that aligned directly with my academic background and long-term career goals, rather than just placing me in a generic position.

July 23, 2026by: Sam Konuma - United StatesThanks to AIP, I did a 2 month internship in Spain. Nisha and Tyler were very helpful with the placement process and making sure everything ran smoothly. 10/10 and I 100% recommend doing AIP if you’re looking to intern abroad.
AIP TAIWAN
July 21, 2026by: Le ying Aw Yang - SingaporeMy internship experience in Taiwan was a very fulfilling one. Having the chance to work with local colleagues on various projects gave me a different perspective that extended far beyond what I was used to in Singapore. There is a difference between visiting a country as a tourist and actually living and working there. AIP provided me with the safety net and opportunity to navigate an international workplace without feeling completely on my own. I'm very grateful for the experience and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a similar experience.

NTU x AIP
July 17, 2026by: Siew Yin Tay - SingaporeMy internship experience in Taiwan through AIP was an incredible one. From the very beginning, the AIP team made the entire process smooth by guiding us through every step of the pre-departure preparations, including visa applications and other essential arrangements. Throughout the internship, they regularly checked in on us to make sure we were settling in well. A special thank you to Nisha and Roro for always being so approachable, supportive, and helpful — they really made living abroad feel much less daunting. What I appreciated most was that AIP went beyond simply arranging an internship. They organized meetups for us to get to know other interns, giving us the opportunity to bond while exploring different parts of Taiwan, including cities like Tainan, Taichung. These experiences allowed me to appreciate Taiwan's culture, beauty, and nature beyond the workplace. Overall, I grew both professionally and personally, gaining valuable work experience while becoming more confident and independent. I would highly recommend AIP to anyone looking for an overseas internship. The team's support and genuine care made this a truly memorable and rewarding experience.

Great Experience!
July 16, 2026by: Pip Hui Pong - SingaporeMy 10-week internship in Taiwan through the Asia Internship Program (AIP) was a truly rewarding and eye-opening experience. The program was well organized, and the AIP team was always responsive and supportive throughout the entire journey, from the application process to settling into Taiwan and during the internship itself. The internship gave me valuable exposure to a real working environment, allowing me to apply what I learned in university while developing new technical and professional skills. Beyond work, living in Taiwan helped me experience a different culture, improve my independence, and meet amazing people from around the world. The balance between professional growth and cultural immersion made this experience especially meaningful. I am grateful for the opportunity and would highly recommend the Asia Internship Program to students looking to gain international work experience, broaden their perspectives, and challenge themselves both personally and professionally.
A Memorable Summer in Taiwan
July 16, 2026by: Josh Cua - SingaporeMy past 10 weeks in Taiwan has been one for the books! I’m very grateful for the support from AIP, from the company placement to the pre-departure process. I appreciate the team (Nisha and Roro) for being responsive to my queries. It’s my first time being immersed in a Chinese-speaking workplace. Despite language challenges, I enjoyed interacting with the colleagues in my company. It is through conversations with the local Taiwanese where I got to immerse myself in their culture. If you’re keen to work overseas and gain professional experience (and hone your foreign language ability), I highly recommend applying to AIP. Just give it a shot!
