A Guide to Internships Abroad in Frankfurt
Popular Internships in Frankfurt
A city as large and in charge as Frankfurt may be intimidating when first trying to sort through the possibilities. To help you narrow down your options, check out the most popular types of internships abroad in Frankfurt:
Popular types of internships in Miami. As Europe’s financial capital, it might go without saying that Frankfurt is a mecca for interns interested in business and finance. The vast array of multinational corporations and banks in the Frankfurt area gives rise to close relationships leading to excellent hands-on experiences and networking opportunities. It’s not all business though, as interns will find placements are readily available in the arts as well.
Short term internships and summer internships vs. long-term internships in Miami. The first thing to consider is how much time you have to devote to an internship abroad. Internships abroad in Frankfurt are available in both the short-term or long-term basis, from a few weeks to a few months or even to full years. The duration of your internship should reflect your overarching goals, such as getting hired after the internship (consider staying longer) or simply adding a super-awesome byline to your resume?
Unpaid vs. paid internships in Frankfurt. Do you want to make money while interning in Germany, or is the experience of living and working abroad payment enough? Both are fine answers, but if you are looking specifically for paid internships in Frankfurt, be prepared for more competition and be ready to commit to a longer internship period. Unpaid internships in Frankfurt are easily found thanks to GoAbroad!
Life in Frankfurt for International Interns
Although one of the country’s most expensive cities, this urban jungle has also been voted as one of the most livable cities in the world. The city is well connected with an intricate web of trams, buses, and train systems, and interns will have no problem maneuvering with the affordable public transportation system to any of its lively districts. Keep stretching your budget by checking out the street food scene during your lunch breaks and be sure to hit a brewery or two with your coworkers after hours.
Frankfurt boasts Germany’s longest pedestrian shopping street called the Zeil, where any shopping addict would certainly have a tough time fighting temptation. Friendlier towards the intern budget is the Flohmarkt, or flea market, that is open every other Saturday in the Museum district along the southern bank of the Main river. The market sells all sorts of knickknacks and treasures and is the perfect place to try your hand at bartering to secure the best deals.
GoAbroad Insider Tips
The housing market in Frankfurt is notoriously competitive. So if you were envisioning your own modern, yet cozy little apartment downtown…sorry to burst your bubble. The good news is some intern abroad programs in Frankfurt will hook you up with accommodation. Another popular option is a Wohngemeinschaft, often shortened to WG, meaning shared flat. These apartments are often shared with a few other roommates, and it’s the perfect way to have an immersive experience with locals.
In a city used to catering to visitors from all over the world, it’s not difficult to get by speaking only English. Many menus in restaurants in the city center will have translations in English, as does signage in most public spaces. For those who do not speak German, the extra English help eliminates much of the hassle of a language barrier, however this can make it more difficult for students determined to immerse themselves in German.
So you’re ready to intern abroad in Frankfurt, ja? Ja! A true global crossroad, Frankfurt boasts an international reputation that dates back to the Roman settlements that will give your resume mad street cred. Kick starting your career with an internship abroad in Frankfurt is a great way to expand your professional and personal contacts in the international arena. And, if you’re considering launching a career as a global professional, you couldn’t pick a better place to start.

Rotterdam 2026
June 03, 2026by: Maya Harvey - United StatesProgram: The Global Consulting Program: From University to Consulting
My time in rotterdam was truly amazing. I got to explore so many different cities surrounding rotterdam, as well as take the full beauty of rotterdam itself. We find group was amazing and provided two students that lived in the area that we were staying, and they showed us around and immediately welcomed us into the city. The relationships we formed with the students was truly amazing and they will forever now be our friends. Carlota was amazing through we find group. She was always very prompt with her responses and was always supporting us throughout the process. She went above and beyond to provide us materials to enhance our project delivery.

I had an awesome time in Spain. Not only was the size of the group perfect, but any time we had any questions, our host would be very responsive. The work itself was great, as we got experience working on real problems that these companies have.

I had an amazing trip with so many new memories and friends! Blanca was absolutely amazing and so helpful. Madrid was gorgeous and would love to go back. My internship was not the best experience but those feelings have been brought up.
Great experience!
May 31, 2026by: Joey Mitsch - United StatesProgram: The Global Consulting Program: From University to Consulting
I enjoyed very much the city of Madrid. Blanca and Cata did amazing in helping us learn the city, and they are awesome people! I met Carlota once during my presentation, and she was very nice and helpful! The location of Fuencarral was not the best because it was far from most places in the city, and there is not very much around the area. I was also upset with the disrespectful attitude of my boss at BIP. But on the other hand, multiple other workers at BIP were very nice and made the workplace environment so much better!
Best experience ever!

These past 3 weeks have been an amazing experience for me! Blanca Cata Carlotta and Paula made my travel and time so much easier and fun! I will definitely miss it. I do wish the accommodation was closer to the city area as getting food was hard. Other than that 10/10 for everything else!

This program was genuinely an incredible learning experience and so much fun. Our country coordinators made the experience even more memorable by helping us learn how to navigate the city and introducing us to some of the best local places to visit. I’m so grateful that I had the opportunity to participate in this program—it was truly one of the best experiences of my life!

May 30, 2026by: Abigail Nahum - United StatesProgram: The Global Consulting Program: From University to Consulting
micampus location was definitely the only thing that made this experience not exceptional. It was frustrating to not be able to be immersed in madrids city life compared to other fisher global programs. Although it was nice. CBRE was a great company and opportunity. Blanca did a great job as well.
I loved Madrid

An immersive experience outside of the classroom
May 29, 2026by: Chase Sprenger - United StatesProgram: The Global Consulting Program: From University to Consulting
I had a great time taking my classroom French to the real world and experiencing the differing culture. I loved our company placement and getting to know everyone there. Florencia was a very helpful guide and our housing was solid. Though the location was not as safe as we would have liked, the apartment was nice
Amazing social and professional opportunity in Milan
May 29, 2026by: Alex Start - United StatesProgram: The Global Consulting Program: From University to Consulting
Overall, the program is well structured and a great experience for students. Each company is different, and this is where I wish my team had a little more rigorous work, but we were still busy all three weeks. Only thing is students shouldn’t be expected to work on Fridays as everyone skipped those days to take weekend trips. The accommodations were nice, but some students did not get ac during a 95° heat wave
A Well-Organized and Impactful International Experience
May 28, 2026by: Jacob Tartabini - United StatesProgram: The Global Consulting Program: From University to Consulting
This program in Brussels with UPS was an outstanding professional and cultural experience. From the beginning, everything was thoughtfully organized, and it was clear how much effort Carlota, Paulo, and the We Find Group put into creating a structured and meaningful experience that balanced professional development with cultural exposure. So thank you! I especially appreciated the opportunity to work closely with UPS and gain insight into real business challenges in a global setting. The experience felt practical and immersive, offering exposure to different teams and perspectives that strengthened my understanding of international business operations. A special recognition goes to Amelie and Victor, who were consistently welcoming, supportive, and highly engaged throughout the entire program. They brought high energy and deep knowledge to every hangout, which made exploring Brussels and engaging with the program even more valuable and memorable. Overall, this was a highly valuable experience that combined professional learning with cultural immersion in a way that was well-structured, engaging, and impactful. Highly recommended for anyone considering going abroad and wanting to gain professional experience from this too. Brussels surprised me with how much I enjoyed staying there!
