This 36 credit-hour master’s (two semesters, plus January Term and summer work) consists of the following: - Required three-credit core and language courses (15 credits) - Electives (9 credits) - Required thesis workshop in the first semester (1 credit) - Intersession traveling seminar (3 credits) - Required thesis seminar during the second or summer semester (2 credits) - Internship during the second or summer semester (3 credits) - Master’s Thesis (3 credits) The program builds on the historic academic tradition of the Institute for American Universities (IAU) – ACM's study abroad institute – as one of the first American institutions abroad to prepare students for careers as diplomats in the Foreign Service or international business. Spend your first two semesters in Amman, Jordan, and Rabat, Morocco, observing humanitarian crises in diverse geographical, political, and cultural environments. Interact with aid workers, NGOs, and refugees as you witness humanitarian assistance and advocacy in action. On a 10-day field study trip to Istanbul, Turkey, a country that hosts the largest population of refugees in the world, you will gain expertise in humanitarian policy, diplomacy, and advocacy. Meet with the United Nations refugee agency, National NGOs, the Turkish Red Crescent, and other organizations engaged in relief, protection, advocacy, and humanitarian diplomacy. In your final semester, you will put your learning into practice during a 12-week field practicum in your chosen location.

The International School is an integral part of the University of Haifa. As a student at the International School, you will be joining students from all over the world who have come to Israel to enhance their education. You will also be studying and living with Israeli students.
