Backseat driver

- Refers to a person who gives incorrect and unsolicited advice; a person who loves to intervene but possesses no credibility.
Example: Everything was a mess after the group followed the advice of Mida. She's truly a backseat driver.

Bad blood

- Hostility between two people.
Example: There has been bad blood between Bruce and Eric ever since they argued about a major family decision last year.

Bad egg

- A term referring to a person who has no credibility; a person who is not trustworthy.
Example: Never trust Tad. He is a bad egg.

Bad shape

- Refers to a person who is in a bad health condition.
Example: We need to postpone our surprise party for Jill. She is still in bad shape.

Example:

Ball is in your court

- You are in charge now; you are asked to make a critical decision; when an important responsibility is given to you.
Example: I expect you to give your best shot. The ball is in your court now.

Example:

Call a spade a spade

- To speak directly to the point, without consideration for tact.
Example: Don't hide behind the mask of manners, call a spade a spade.

Example:

Call the shots

- To be in charge; to take the lead.
Example: I'm leaving for a seminar next week, Leslie; you'll be the one to call the shots!

Example:

Cash in your chips

- To sell something before its value declines.
Example: The mining industry is getting heavy resistance from environmentalists and from the new anti-mining act, so cash in your chips now before it gets worse.

Example:

Caught red-handed

- To catch someone in the act of doing something unlawful or not right.
Example: Gary was caught red-handed while shoplifting for a pack of cigarette at the corner store.
