AIFS Abroad in Paris, France (CCFS): Semester

Spend a semester or academic year in the incomparable city of Paris, France, with AIFS Abroad! You’ll earn up to 16 credits per semester while studying at the Cours de Civilisation Française de la Sorbonne (CCFS), part of the University of Paris. Courses are taught in English or French—no previous French language study is required. Study-abroad students have many opportunities to impact the Paris community through volunteer work! AIFS Abroad helps arrange local placements with charities and organizations such as Les Restos du Coeur, which distributes food and hot meals to homeless people; Emmaüs, which provides literacy programs and leisure activities for disadvantaged children; and Secours Populaire, a charity that provides access to health facilities, education and food for those in need. You’ll enjoy cultural and social activities, including: • Guided city walks • Visits to the museums and cultural sites • Opera and ballet performances • Visits to the Palace of Versailles, Monet’s garden in Giverny, and the Château of Vaux-le-Vicomte

Apply to our Paris program and get the chance to attend French culture and language, business, and/or elective courses based on your academic goals! Your choices of institutions are the American Business School Paris (ABSP), the Cours de Civilization Française de la Sorbonne (CCFS), and the Institut Catholique de Paris. All courses, except French language and some culture courses, are taught in English by guest lecturers and international professors. Our Paris office is located in the Latin Quarter, across the Seine River from the Notre Dame Cathedral. Enjoy full access to our facilities, amenities, and resources; ensuring you have everything you need while in Paris. The “City of Light” is rich in academia, culture, tradition, luxury, and history. It has distinct personalities you can observe from the two banks of the Seine River. Practice French at NYU Paris

At NYU Paris, you’ll practice your French language skills while being immersed in French culture. If you’re a beginner, you’ll take courses taught in both French and English. But if you have some knowledge, you’ll take all of your courses in French. Courses include "France and the European Union: Europe in Crisis," "Fundamentals of Machine Learning," and "Writing Paris." NYU’s academic center is in the Latin Quarter, a vibrant neighborhood known for its rich culture, laid-back atmosphere, and intellectual history. Our French Language Immersion & Area Studies Program has two important goals: to improve your written and verbal proficiency in French through language and area studies courses and to introduce you to contemporary France and its role in the European Union. A beautiful city on the Loire River, Nantes is the perfect place to perfect your French. For more than 50 years, this program has been offering students the opportunity to fully integrate into French society and function completely in French, thanks to the program’s focus on full immersion and the fact that there are few Anglophones in Nantes. This program has a close relationship with the Université de Nantes, so you will have many opportunities to enroll in local university courses. IES Abroad courses are taught in French by native French faculty, many of whom are professors at the Université de Nantes.
