Study Abroad in Italy and experience the awe-inspiring sights of the Ancient Roman Empire!

One student’s description of studying abroad in Rome made it clear that there was never a moment where he ran out of things to do.  As it goes with any major European city, all you have to do in Italy is walk out your front door to have an adventure!  For example in Rome, you could very easily stay at an apartment during your study abroad program that is a five minute walk from the Colosseum, or a 10 minute walk away from Pantheon.  The thing is, is that in Rome, or pretty much anywhere in Italy, you’re walking where people have walked for the past 2000 years.  There is so much history behind everything a student does on a study abroad program in Italy.  You are studying abroad in the first capital of Western thought, culture, and science.

On a study abroad program in Florence a student can have a fire baked, ‘real’ Italian pizza where a whole pizza is good for one person before going out and seeing the multiple sights.  These sights are numerous and beautiful, ranging from climbing the Duomo like a monk to walking across the famous Ponte Vecchio, a student will never run out of things to do and see. However there are hidden, less well-known sights, such as an underground restaurant with three hundred year old bottles of wine and an the owner claims his restaurant was the first to serve meat off of the bone, which translates to serving the first steak in history.

Besides being the governing seat of the Roman Empire, Italy also sparked the Renaissance, which brought about change in Europe after the Black Plague.  It brought back ideals from the ancient world that had pretty much been forgotten for centuries upon centuries.  It produced amazing art works that we have all heard about from creative geniuses such as Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo.  Thus doing an overseas or study abroad program in Italy will no doubt be an encompassing and satisfying experience for any student looking into liberal arts such as art and history.  With a wide range of experiences waiting to be had, Italy should always be a top consideration for any student looking to study abroad.

In conclusion, Italy is an amazing place to travel to and study abroad at.  With over 3000 years of history, the birthplace of Western civilization and the Renaissance, Italy is a place full of experiences waiting to happen to the average study abroad student lucky enough to pick a program there.
