Zion Country Eco beach Cabins is best described as a small, cosy guesthouse. There is no commercial tourism here. Being surrounded by a green forest makes Zion Country Eco beach Cabins a popular place for nature lovers, eco tourism, back packers and low budget travellers.

Zion Country Eco beach Cabins is a 1 acre property with a private beach with a view to the ocean and to the John Crow mountains. Dutch born Free-I, from Holland, bought the one acre property in 1996, re-landscaped the whole property and build 4 wooden beach cabins. The work took five years but Zion Country Eco beach Cabins opened its doors in 1999 and hosts visitors from all over the world. In 2008, after Hurricane Gustaf, Zion Country was badly damaged, but was totally rebuilt and looks even better. Each cottage has two rooms (2 persons each room), there are no electrical outlets in the cabins, a sea view and balcony where you can relax or fall asleep in a hammock. Or you can walk outside the gate into a friendly Jamaican Community.

Zion Country Eco beach Cabins is an enviromentally friendly place. We catch the rain water and supply it to our bathrooms and showers (only cold water) for our guests. We recycle our glass, paper and plastic waste; out of our green waste we make compost. Zion Country Eco beach Cabins is trying to get a "Green Globe" certificate in the future. We have initiated several Environmental Projects in the community.

Zion Country Eco beach Cabins are situated in Muirton Pen, Portland Parish, between Manchioneal and Long Road in the east of Jamaica

Traveling from Kingston Norman Manley Airport to Zion Country:
Drive from the Airport to the round about in Harbor View (ten minutes drive), take the round about 3/4 around and follow the direction to Bull Bay (Coastal Main Road A-4). Then through Yallas toward Morant Bay, from Morant Bay to Golden Grove, from there to Long Road where Zion Country is situated. Drive through Long Road community and watch for the sign where you turn off to the right.

Total driving time 2 hours.

Traveling from Montego Bay Sangster Airport to Zion Country:
Drive from the Airport to the round about (3 minutes drive), go around one quarter and drive direction Falmouth (Coastal Main Road A-1), from there to St. Ann's Bay, from there A-3 towards Port Maria, then to Buff Bay, and from there it becomes A-4 towards Port Antonio. Continue toward Long Bay, Manchioneal, and finally Long Road. Upon entering the community watch for the sign on the left showing you the road to Zion Country.

Total driving time 4 and 1/2 hours. They are improving the infrastructure from Montego Bay to Port Antonio. This will be finished in 2009 and will reduce the total driving time to 4 hours.
