Study Abroad in Switzerland
This experience was life changing. I learned to take a global perspective about events and threw away the provincial views I had before I spent that summer in Germany. I learned that the United States is a phenomenal country, but that other nations and peoples also have much to conribute to making this earth a safer and more harmonious place to share with each other. The things that I have based my life on, that were a result of this program did not fully develop the day I arrivedin Germany, not the day I came home -- but that time was only a beginning. As I've moved into early senior citizenship, I hold fast to the belief in fairness to everyone, and that equality is not just a word but needs to be a way of life without reservation. Youth for Understanding, allowed me to learn about another family in a foreign country, to participate in their daily life, and to make decisions as an emerging adult. After marriage,children, and grandchildren, it stands out as a major highlight of my life.
