Young WIVES Institute is an initiative in support, skills development and vocational educational for young Indian women who have plans to migrate to foreign countries after marrying non-resident Indians (NRI). The aggravated risks in such marriages occurs due to the woman being at times isolated far away from home in an alien land facing constraints of: language, cultural shock, partner incompatibility that often leads to marital conflict, lack of knowledge of local social support and legal systems, lack of support network of friends and family and unavailability of monetary support and alternative accommodation if required. These women are often without adequate global and cross cultural awareness and pre-departure career skills that render some of them vulnerable in the new social settings.
Young WIVES will facilitate and provide support, skills development and vocational training/qualifications for these particular young women, before they move abroad. It will deliver practical workplace learning qualifications in the areas of community development, social welfare, health-care, hospitality, and small business management. These qualifications are designed and developed by International training institutions, and accreditation and certification agencies giving the students an Internationally recognized qualification at the completion of their studies. These qualifications will lead to increased confidence, skill development, empowerment and enhanced career pathway opportunities for local women from rural Punjab before they move abroad.
Young WIVES seeks to facilitate the personal and career development young women whilst providing social and environmental benefits to the community. In this way, Young WIVES focuses on beneficiary specific learning solutions through skills development, long-term career guidance and support, practical experience and a reliable, high quality international qualification. At the same time, we aim to foster a SEVA (selfless service) spirit amongst our participant learners by providing them with a platform to connect with and contribute to their local community.
