Based in Patagonia, Alaska and wilderness locations further afield, you will spend two years trekking, training, ice climbing and gaining experience as a mountain guide, earn internationally recognised guiding and backcountry certifications. Ideal for the true adventurer, this Patagonia guide school will equip you with the necessary skills to become a wilderness mountain guide.
The two year mountain guide course will take you to peaks and summits around the world as you pick up the skills, knowledge and qualifications necessary to become an experienced wilderness mountaineering guide with this Patagonia guide school. This course is unique in the sense that it incorporates both outdoors training and industry experience for those wanting to break into the mountain guiding industry. With a network of international contacts and locations at hand, the course is ideally suited to those wanting to get into the field of mountain guiding.
Based in the remote and stunning wilderness of Patagonia and Alaska, the training encompasses all the skills and qualifications needed for any willing mountain guide protege. This includes intensive ski training, ice climbing, trekking trips, rock climbing, mountaineering training, Mountaineering School Level 1/ WEA OL Training, Leave No Trace Master Educator, Rock Climbing Level 1 & 2, Alpine Mountaineering Level 1 & 2, Wilderness First Responder Course and the WEA Instructor Training Course
The program is split into five sections divided up over a period of twenty one months and is designed to gradually build the skills, experience and confidence needed to plan and execute a trekking expedition into any wilderness area as a mountain guide. These five sections are the Foundation, Technical Skills, True Mountaineer, Apprentice Guide and finally, Mountain Guide.
