Yerevan State University (YSU) is a public university in Armenia’s capital. Founded in 1919 and officially inaugurated in 1920, we are the country’s oldest public university that has been continuously operating. Hence, we are known as the “Mother University” in Armenia. University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) ranks YSU first in Armenia and 954th in the world, out of 20,000 institutions included in the survey.
As of 2016, we have 19 faculties and a Preparatory Faculty for Foreign Citizens. We offer undergraduate and postgraduate programs, and our main instruction is in Armenian. We also deliver some classes in English and Russian, whenever needed by foreign students. We continually update the content and range of our educational programs using modern teaching and learning methods as well as provide students with effective support services.
