Ycenter creates community-centered programs in the fields of healthcare and education in Mozambique, Africa, and Mumbai, India. Ycenter was started by Dhairya Pujara who quit his corporate job on first day and traveled to Mozambique, where he used his biomedical engineering skills to fix medical equipment that the community had received in the form of donations but did not know how to use them effectively. Ycenter believes in the power of social capital and the collaborative effort of community members to achieve a better quality of life. Our programs have clearly demonstrated the impact on local communities and the students who participated in them. We are proud to call ourselves truly a Higher Education Social Innovation Enterprise. In 2015, Ycenter was featured in a white paper report by Caux Rountable, which stated that Ycenter as a program of distinction for leadership and experiential learning that should be benchmarked and evaluated to deliver on the promise of United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.
