Israel: Rural Areas

Description

Yachad puts you into prestigious Israeli "Mechina" volunteer-study programs, where you'll live with Israeli peers in self-governing communities engaging in Jewish studies, community service and exploration of the land and people of Israel. No matter what you're looking for - from Reform to modern Orthodox, from small town tranquility to the hustle and bustle of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem - we've got a program for you!

"Mechina" means preparation. For more than 20 years, "mechina" programs have offered fun and fascinating gap-year programs to Israeli 18-19 year-olds, and now you can join them! You'll learn all about Jewish identity, Jewish texts and Israeli society, in the classroom and beyond. You'll take responsibility for the community around you through meaningful volunteering projects. And you'll help govern every aspect of life in the "mechina," by taking part in committees that plan everything from the allocation of the food budget, to week-long seminars around Israel and more.
