WorldTeach is fortunate to have two programs in Chile: one in partnership with DuocUC and the other with the Ministry of Education.
DuocUC is a technical and professional institute that is a sister institution to the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. The mission of DuocUC is to bring top-quality training to post-secondary students, qualifying them to carry out concrete and useful contributions in their future occupations. DuocUC fills a similar role for Chile that community colleges do for the United States, with 9 campuses located in Santiago, Valparaiso, Viña del Mar and Concepcion. Volunteers will be assigned to one of DuocUCs campuses where they will teach English to recent high school graduates and adult students who are enrolled in DuocUC for professional and technical skills training.
Additionally, WorldTeach works with Chile's Ministry of Education Inglés Abre Puertas Volunteer Program by selecting and recruiting volunteers to teach English in Chile's 8th, 9th and 14th southern regions. Volunteers will teach English to students in primary or secondary public and semi-private schools.
Placements & Housing
Volunteers will be placed in Futaleufú and Palena, two rural communities in the tenth region. There you will have support, both professional and personal, from the WorldTeach Chile Field Director, based in Santiago, and the Patagonia Sur Program Coordinator, based in Coihaique. You will live in pensiòn-style housing and will be afforded the opportunity to gain knowledge of the areas history and customs as well as learn about other aspects of Chilean culture and language.

The reality is that the countries that most need educators cannot afford to cover all of the costs associated with training, travel, insurance, and other expenses related to placing a teacher overseas. Because WorldTeach receives no income from government grants or an endowment, we ask each volunteer to contribute or fundraise the cost of their placement and training in these countries, while the host community provides housing and a small stipend to support you during your service. By requesting that volunteers help fund their service overseas, WorldTeach is able to provide volunteer educators to countries that would not otherwise be able to afford qualified teachers. All WorldTeach volunteers are provided with a fundraising guide and access to alumni with fund raising experience to help them raise money to meet these costs.
Program Cost includes: pre-departure information and preparation, round-trip international airfare, health insurance, in-country orientation and training, transportation to your site, meals and housing during orientation and throughout your teaching service, a living stipend throughout your service, 24 hour field support, and after-service support and networking.
In addition to housing, volunteers will receive a living stipend of about USD150 per month.
