The Chinese language is becoming more and more important in today's world. World Endeavors has partnered with Yantai University in China to create an intensive language seminar that is the perfect opportunity to learn a great deal of Chinese in a short amount of time. The program also includes essential features such as small class sizes, individualized attention, and a safe, affordable location on the Yellow Sea. Yantai is a city lying on the eastern tip of Shandong Peninsula, on the Yellow Sea facing South Korea and Japan across the sea. This coastal city is a short flight from the capital of Beijing and from the bustling metropolis of Shanghai. Yantai University has twenty colleges and departments with forty-five undergraduate specialties, eighteen graduate programs and one professional degree program.

Highlights

Students will be met at the airport upon arrival and will receive an in-depth orientation that includes a tour of the city of Yantai, China.

Participants will live in the fully-furnished international student hostel located on campus. The housing includes a shared room with access to laundry facilities, kitchen and dining area, common rooms and study rooms.

The summer session is an intensive Chinese Mandarin immersion program. Students will have the unique chance to work in small study-groups and will receive individualized attention from their teachers.

Courses are organized in the mornings from Monday through Friday, with afternoon sessions on Monday and Wednesday. Spoken and written Chinese will be studied, as well as oral comprehension. Optional cultural courses and activities, such as calligraphy, painting, hiking, or other events will be held on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Participants who successfully complete the course will receive 6 credits. It is the student's responsibility to contact their academic advisor prior to the program to determine how the courses taken while abroad will transfer to their home institution.
