Description

Individuals with academic or professional experience in finance, business administration, and international business will intern with high-profile banks or businesses in Ecuador and gain valuable experience in a wide range of responsibilities.

In addition to an incredible internship, all World Endeavors Intern in Ecuador programs of one month or longer include Spanish language training for the first two weeks. Several excursions are also included to help familiarize participants with the city, the surrounding area, and the Ecuadorian culture. Excursions may include visits to volunteer projects, festivals, city tours, river tours, social events, museum tours, and beach visits.

Highlights

The beginning of 1999 saw the banking sector in Ecuador collapse, which helped precipitate an unprecedented default on external loans later that year. Continued economic instability drove a 70% depreciation of the currency throughout 1999. The government managed to stabilize the currency by switching to the US dollar in 2000. Ecuador has entered a period of renewed economic recovery and growth that continues to this day. This economic climate is an excellent opportunity for interns who are interested in the field to gain experience.
