Description

A new wave of publicly funded development projects are being planned and are under way in Guayaquil, Ecuador. One project in particular focuses on the development of a large island on the Guayas river. The project intends to transform the island into a eco-park, with trails and an interpretive center. World Endeavors participants who intern in the areas of architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning, engineering, environmental studies, and environmental management have the opportunity to participate in this and a wide range of other new development projects in Guayaquil.

Highlights

Intern with an internationally recognized development firm whose current focus is urban development in Guayaquil, the largest city in Ecuador. Their recent riverfront redevelopment project was the largest urban renewal project in the last 50 years of Guayaquil's history. The project gained international recognition and injected new life into the riverfront region of the city.

Qualifications

Participants are required to take a written language exam in order to assess the appropriate placement in language classes. A follow-up language interview will be conducted after participants arrive in Ecuador. Many internships are available for absolute beginners in Spanish with little experience in their preferred field.
